Gauteng police have refuted claims that one of the two suspects shot and killed by police in Parys was a police officer. According to the authorities, the suspect in question was a former police official who was dismissed from the service earlier this year.
The suspects were allegedly involved in a series of blue-light robberies on the R59 and other roads between Gauteng and the Free State.
They reportedly hijacked victims and held them captive for hours while withdrawing large sums of money from their bank accounts.
