Pension Scheme: Men Outnumber Women By 65 % Among Youths Registration

Men outnumber womenby 65 per cent among youths that registered for the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) in two years.

Data from the National Pension Commission, Pencom on fresh registration under the CPS shows that, among youths, 339,789 male registered while 206,186 females registered from 2022 to 2023.

A breakdown of the data shows that in 2022, 269,014 workers, below age 40 registered for the CPS, with males accounting for 177,369 or 65.8 per cent, while female accounted for 91,646 or 34.2 per cent.

In 2023 of the 276,961 workers below age 40 that registered for the CPS, males dominated, accounting for 162,420 or 58.4 per cent, while females accounted for 114,541 or 41.5 per cent.
