The modernisation and expansion of Zanzibars Pemba Airport is officially underway. The project will include upgrading the terminal, runway and main access road.
Zanzibar recently handed over the construction site to Spain-based contractor Propav Infrastructure. The new airport will feature a modern passenger terminal, a 2,4km runway and facilities accommodating long-haul aircraft used on international routes.
According to The Citizen , the cost projected by Zanzibars Ministry of Infrastructure for both projects is around US263,3 million R4,5 billion. The development is scheduled for completion within three years.
