Dewald Brevishas been ruled out of the three-match ODI series against Pakistan due to a low-grade shoulder muscle strain sustained during the third T20I of the ongoing tour. Cricket South Africa have not named a replacement for him yet.
The middle-order batter is understood to undergo rehabilitation in Pakistan. He will not be flying back to South Africa and will remain with the squad. South Africa will hope Brevis gets back to fitness before the upcoming all-format tour of India.
Brevish has joined Kwena Maphaka and Anrich Nortje in the injury list. This has severely depleted the 50-over squad which is already without most of their all-format players like Aiden Markram and Kagiso Rabada, who are rested. The ODI side is being led by Matthew Breetzke, who made his ODI debut only this year.
