outa says tender for licence machine riddled with inefficiencies

The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse Outa CEO Wayne Duvenage says the tender process for South Africas drivers licence card machine was riddled with inefficiencies and manipulation.

This follows revelations that a Transport Department delegation sent to France to inspect new technology discovered that it was actually based in the Czech Republic and Greece.

Despite this, a contract worth nearly R900 million was awarded to the French company, Idemia.
