Nutanix, a global leader in hybrid multicloud computing, has announced the successful deployment of its Nutanix Cloud Platform NCP at Jeddah University, significantly enhancing classroom, laboratory, and remote learning experiences while exceeding the institution's cost-saving expectations. The implementation supports Jeddah University's mission to deliver innovative, digitally driven education aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to build a knowledge-based and technology-enabled economy.
As one of Saudi Arabia's newest and most modern public universities, Jeddah University is advancing the "New Saudi University Mission," centered on collaboration, innovation, and community impact. Virtual desktop infrastructure VDI plays a critical role in this model, enabling students to attend classes, participate in research labs, collaborate with peers, and securely access learning resources from anywhere. However, rising VDI operational costs, inconsistent performance, and complex IT management began to affect the quality of digital learning experiences.
To address these challenges, the University standardized its virtual desktop environment on Nutanix, adopting a secure, scalable, and high-performance platform. According to Hosam G. Mutir, Systems Engineer at Jeddah University, Nutanix's strong market reputation and positive feedback from industry peers in Saudi Arabia were key factors in the decision. From deployment, the solution integrated seamlessly with core systems such as the Learning Management System, Student Information System, and productivity tools including Microsoft Office.
