The National Universities Commission NUC has approved 13 new degree programmes for Nigerian universities to enhance academic relevance and align higher education with global trends.

The approval was conveyed in a circular addressed to all vice-chancellors, signed by the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, and released by the NUCs spokesperson.

According to the circular, the new programmes have been incorporated into the Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards CCMAS. Experts drawn from Nigerian universities participated in developing the national component, which represents 70 percent of the curriculum, while institutions are expected to design the remaining 30 percent based on their academic focus and resources.
