The 17-year-old centre-back is set to join the Premier League club from Dauphine Academy in Cameroon after Brentford reached a verbal agreement for his transfer.

Dauphine Academy has built a reputation as a producer of young talent. In the past 12 months, academy graduates Harouna Djibirin have signed for French side Angers and Stphane Noumbissie has joined Lille, both making the move from Cameroon to Europe as promising prospects.

Harouna Djibirin, an attacking player, has since made his Ligue 1 debut for Angers after progressing through the clubs reserve and first-team ranks. Stphane Noumbissie, a defender, was snapped up by Lille to continue his development within their youth and reserve set-up.

Ntamack Pondy, who has represented Cameroon at under-17 level, has attracted interest from several European clubs following his performances at youth level. Brentford have moved quickly to secure his signature as part of their long-term recruitment strategy, which focuses on identifying and developing emerging players.

The move is expected to be completed subject to international clearance and work permit approval, with the defender likely to link up initially with Brentfords academy setup.

The club has not yet made an official announcement.
