The National Sea Rescue Institute NSRI, in the Western Cape has rescued several people at sea, including two children. It has commended the role played by good Samaritans in saving lives.
Spokesperson, Craig Lambinon, says two girls were rescued at Millers Point near Simons Town Beach. Lambinon says the girls, a five-year-old from Mitchells Plain and an eight-year-old from Hanover Park on the Cape Flats got into difficulty when their inflatable lilo deflated.
Three bystanders rescued them and performed Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation CPR. They were taken to hospital and are expected to make a full recovery.
