The man convicted of one of South Africa's most shocking child murders, Loyhdian Pangkaeker, has died while serving multiple life sentences at Brandvlei Maximum Centre near Worcester in the Western Cape.
Pangkaeker, who was serving nine life terms for the kidnapping, rape, and murder of eight-year-old Tazne van Wyk, passed away in his sleep on Tuesday, authorities confirmed.
The Department of Correctional Services DCS, as per The Citizen , said prison officials discovered Pangkaeker's body and notified his family. DCS spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo stated that Pangkaeker had been serving sentences for a staggering array of offences, including multiple counts of rape, assault, indecent assault, corpse violation, child exploitation, murder, kidnapping, and absconding from parole.
