Mbalula shared the poster on his X account on Tuesday while urging ANC members not to be enticed by the discussion of leadership.

Fikile Mbalula denounces ANC campaign poster

This will have its own time and space, and we will have plenty of time to reflect, he wrote.

We are a 40 percent party. Anyone who is engaged in this discussion and campaign doesnt appreciate the moment we find ourselves in as an organisation and the movement in general led by the ANC.

ANC members must be alert to the work of agent provocateurs who seek to drown our organisation into this unrewarding, destructive discussion.

In a separate post, which he prefaced with the words, Not in my name, Mbalula also vowed to enforce discipline and cohesion of the ANC.

Anyone who deviates from the discipline of the ANC will be taken to task irrespective of their status, he added.

There are tough questions and choices to be made in the transformation of our country. The masses are looking for leadership, not individuals who are preoccupied about their own interests.

His comments came hours after some ANC members in Soweto declared Deputy President Paul Mashatile as their preferred candidate for president in the partys 2027 national conference.

The handful of members wore T-shirts that carried the words, Mashatile themba lethu, which translates to, Mashatile our hope. They were attending an ANC event that the Deputy President addressed.
