Police in the North West say they will not rest until the killers of an elderly couple in Rustenburg are arrested. Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Adele Myburgh says the couple was shot in the parking area of a local shopping mall after a confrontation with occupants of another vehicle.
Myburgh says paramedics declared the couple dead on the scene.
The motive of the murder is unknown and we urge anyone with information to help with the police investigations to come forward.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of North West, Major General Patrick Asaneng, condemned the gruesome incident and urged police to leave no stone unturned.
This senseless, gratuitous violence which has led to the brutal slaying of the elderly couple in broad daylight, cannot and should not go unpunished. The police are working hard to combat criminal activities, therefore, I am calling upon the perpetrators to listen to their conscience and hand themselves in immediately to the police before they are tracked. We believe that the perpetrators are armed and dangerous, so they must not be approached.
