Professor Caesar Nongqunga has been announced as the new president of the African Transformation Movement ATM, replacing Vuyolwethu Zungula.
The party announced the move in a statement, saying the decision was made by the National Executive Committee to separate the roles of party advocacy and organisational building.
Zungula has been President of the ATM for seven years.
ATMs spokesperson Zama Ntshona says Zungula will focus on the ATMs Parliamentary duties whilst Nongqunga will focus on the partys growth.
"Under President Zungulas stewardship, the ATM has grown from its modest beginnings to a formidable force advocating for economic transformation and the upliftment of the marginalized communities across our nation. President Zungula continues as party leader in Parliament, where he will continue his tireless work in advocating for the emancipation of the downtrodden and in ensuring that they have voices ahead. As we welcome Professor Cesar Nungunga into his new role as president, we acknowledge his profound vision for the ATM."
