Actress Nomzamo Mbatha has shot down speculation after an old picture of her at a Cape Town residential property resurfaced on social media.

Deputy President Paul Mashatile now owns the R28.9 million mansion , per his declaration in Parliaments latest register of members interests . It is located in Cape Towns pricey Constantia suburb.

The declaration has sparked controversy because the mansion is legally owned by his son-in-laws company, according to News24 reports . He has also previously denied using it.

Nomzamo Mbatha reacts to Mashatile speculation

On Tuesday 29 July, X social media platform user Sanele Nkosi shared a picture of Mbatha at the property while referencing Mashatiles declaration.

Nkosi appears to have taken the image from the actress Instagram profile. The post sparked speculation on whether or not Mbatha had ties to the Deputy President.

In response, the Shaka iLembe actress shared an Airbnb receipt indicating that she was indeed at the palatial, eight-bedroom mansion in December 2020 and January 2021.

At the time, it was designated as Constantia Lodge - Luxury Villa. Ok, I would like to credit and acknowledge Airbnb - shuthi sorry, Mbatha wrote in her reply.

In his declaration, Mashatile described the property as a residential family home. He also listed a R37 million residence in Midrands Waterfall estate and a third one in Kelvin, Johannesburg.

According to reports, his son-in-law Nceba Nonkwelo acquired the Constantia and Waterfall properties through his company Bilcosat between March and May 2023. This was more than two years after Mbatha visited the one in Constantia.

In January 2024, the Democratic Alliance accused Mashatile of failing to declare his use of the Waterfall residence and therefore allegedly misleading Parliament.
