ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula says a dedicated session has been arranged to discuss the challenges facing the GNU at their NEC meeting currently underway in Ormonde south of Johannesburg.
This comes in the wake of sharp differences and tensions between major partners in the GNU, which led to DA walking out of the National Dialogue.
The DA has also vowed to vote against some budgets of ANC ministers that it deems are corrupt. This has prompted some ANC NEC members to call on President Cyril Ramaphosa to expel the DA from the GNU.
Mbalula says their discussion is not meant to review the GNU but to see if they can strengthen it.
"The GNU is a discussion we will focus on. Since we formed the GNU, what are the challenges we are facing and at the same time what is it that needs to be done to strengthen the GNU and what are matters that need an urgent attention?" says Mbalula.
