The Nigeria Data Protection Commission NDPC has marked a milestone under its Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan through bilateral engagements with French digital and data protection authorities in Paris. Facilitated by the Economic Department of the French Embassy, the meetings brought together the Nigerian delegation, led by NDPC CEO Dr. Vincent Olatunji, and France's Interministerial Directorate for Digital Affairs DINUM and CNIL, France's data protection authority.
The discussions focused on data governance, digital economy strategies, artificial intelligence, innovation, and public awareness. Both sides exchanged insights on cross-border data protection, mutual legal assistance, and information sharing, with Nigeria presenting its experience in data protection frameworks, enforcement mechanisms, and public-private partnership models.
The engagement is part of ongoing efforts to deepen Nigerian-French collaboration in cross-border data governance and foster economic development in the digital space.
