The Nigerian Postal Service NIPOST has unveiled an automated payment solution for inbound postal items, marking a major milestone in its ongoing digital transformation journey. Developed in partnership with Paystack, this new system is designed to streamline the payment of customs duties, improve transparency, and enhance customer experience across Nigeria's postal network. The initiative represents a critical step in modernizing the nation's logistics and postal operations, aligning with broader efforts to digitize government services.

Through this automated system, customers will now receive real-time notifications once customs duties are assessed, ensuring greater visibility and convenience. They can also request reassessments digitally with a single click, removing the need for manual intervention. The platform integrates secure Paystack-powered payment links that are delivered to customers via email or SMS, allowing seamless and secure online transactions. In addition, NIPOST has partnered with logistics providers such as Sendbox and Messenger.ng to enable expedited last-mile delivery with live parcel tracking, ensuring a smoother end-to-end process.

The official launch ceremony was graced by government dignitaries, fintech and logistics industry leaders, and members of the media. The event was led by representatives of the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, who was ably represented by the ministry's Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ade Ladan Rafiu. In his address, NIPOST's Postmaster General and CEO, Tola Odeyemi, described the initiative as a "new chapter in NIPOST's transformation story," emphasizing the agency's commitment to innovation, efficiency, and customer trust.
