The U20 Africa Cup of Nations reaches its climax on Sunday as Nigeria and Egypt face off in the third-place playoff while South Africa and Morocco battle for glory in the final once again.
South Africa defeated Nigeria 1-0 in their semi final at the Suez Canal Stadium on Thursday thanks to Tylon Smiths 66th minute header, ensuring a return to the final for the first time in 28 years.
Morocco made it past tournament hosts Egypt courtesy of substitute Jones El-Abdellaoui who struck the back of the net in the 77th minute.
Egypt will face Nigeria in the U20 AFCON tournament for the sixth time since 1993. Nigeria have the historical advantage, winning three of their previous encounters including the final in 2005. Egypts only win over Nigeria in tournament history came in the 2013 semi final, after which they went on to lift the trophy.
Nigeria are used to facing teams with home advantage, having played against tournament hosts on eight previous occasions. The Flying Eagles will be looking for their fifth U20 AFCON bronze medal.
