Nigeria Data Protection Commission Kicks Off Nationwide Privacy Initiative

The Nigeria Data Protection Commission NDPC has officially launched its Digital Privacy Awareness Campaign DPAC, a nationwide initiative aimed at educating the university community on the significance of data protection and privacy. The launch took place at Nile University, Abuja, under the theme "Data Privacy for a Safer Digital Future."

Representing the NDPC at the event, Babatunde Bamigboye Esq., Head of the Legal Enforcement and Regulations Department, highlighted opportunities in the data protection ecosystem and emphasized the importance of professional digital engagement, privacy awareness, institutional ethics online, and responsible digital citizenship within academic settings.

A key highlight of the event was a panel discussion themed "Social Media, AI and Me: Who Really Owns My Data?" The panel was moderated by NDPC's Belinda Meribole and included experts such as Oluwatosin Emmanuel Ademakin CyberdefleX CEO, Oladipupo Ige Director of LawDigits, Nkechi Udeze Andersen, and Louis Iwegbuna SBTS.
