Newcastle Municipality Launches R2.1bn Debt Recovery Drive

The Newcastle Municipality in northern KwaZulu-Natal, which is owed R2.1 billion by residents for unpaid rates and services, has launched an initiative called the Debt and Revenue Collection campaign to recoup the monies owed.

Speaker of the municipality Prince Thengamehlo Zulu says the municipality is targeting areas such as Madadeni and Osizweni.

An area where residents and businesses owe the municipality a significant amount of money.
