A Delft mother is demanding answers after her newborn son died just four days after birth, following what she describes as inadequate medical care at Delft Day Hospital, Cape town Etc reports
According to the Western Cape Health Department spokesperson Megan Davids and reports from the Daily Voice , Roonesha Jooste 24 claims that insufficient post-delivery checks and delayed emergency response may have contributed to her baby's death.
Jooste recounted the final moments with her son in a rain-soaked ambulance, where she held him skin-to-skin, without an incubator, as blood began oozing from his mouth.
After his death, Jooste returned to Delft Hospital to request her baby's medical records, only to be questioned by a nurse who asked if she planned to open a police case, as per a social media post on Facebook .
Megan confirmed that Jooste arrived at Delft's emergency unit at 12:05am on 29 June, with her baby showing severe distress.
