From intern to full-time employee at TBCSA

The Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) has welcomed Snegugu Dlomo as its new Events Membership Coordinator. She previously served as an intern from February last year.

At 24 years old, Dlomo says the year spent working at the TBCSA has taught her more than just meeting and greeting people at trade shows such as the Africa Travel Indaba.

I have learned to go beyond just introducing myself and the company I work for, to sharing my interests and asking more questions. This has enabled me to develop and grow my professional network.

Effective communication skills have helped her grow in confidence, allowing her to apply her knowledge and talents in the field of work.

In Membership Relations, my duties, amongst others, entail maintaining accurate membership records and databases, and maintain a high level of member satisfaction by responding to queries timeously, Dlomo added.

The TBCSA said her promotion to a full-time staff member was a testament to its commitment to equipping young people with skills that lead to employment opportunities.

Her new role as an Events Membership Coordinator bears testament to the commitment of the tourism industry to not only invest in young people, but also give them the opportunity to build meaningful careers which will earn them a decent living.

The young tourism professional says shes ready to take on the new challenge as she spreads her wings at the TBCSA. I am grateful to TBCSA not only for the internship opportunity, but for continuously striving to invest in my talent and career development. I am grateful that the company has decided to retain me and thus, allow me to take up a bigger role.
