The Nigerian Communications Commission NCC has hosted a two-day workshop in Lagos for Attorneys-General from across Nigeria. The workshop, which concluded on Thursday, July 31, 2025, was organized to foster synergy between the legal community and the telecommunications sector. The theme of the event was Building and Driving Synergy in Regulating Communications for the Digital Transformation of Nigeria.
The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, who declared the workshop open, emphasized the vital role of digital transformation in the countrys socio-economic development. He called for a whole-of-government approach that leverages the strengths of all institutions, both at the federal and state levels, to navigate the complexities and opportunities presented by emerging technologies.
Key issues discussed during the workshop included the streamlining of taxation, addressing regulatory overlaps, and the protection of critical national information infrastructure. The workshop also focused on the need to review the Nigerian Communications Act of 2003 to align it with current digital realities and to promote an investor-friendly regulatory environment. The initiative underscores the NCCs commitment to collaborating with legal professionals to ensure a robust and effective regulatory framework for Nigerias digital future.
