The Bank of Namibia BoN and the Bankers Association of Namibia BAN, in collaboration with key industry partners, are spearheading a major initiative to tackle the escalating threats of financial fraud and cybercrime.

The institutions announced they are hosting the Fraud Cybersecurity Risk Awareness Summit, held under the theme: "Strengthening Trust and Resilience in Namibia's Financial System."

The summit is designed to bring together financial sector stakeholders to discuss and strategize on:

Emerging Fraud Trends: Analyzing the latest tactics being employed by fraudsters.

Cybersecurity Threats: Addressing the growing digital risks facing financial institutions and consumers.

Safeguarding Strategies: Developing concrete plans and sharing best practices to protect the integrity of the financial sector.

The announcement comes amidst a significant increase in financial losses due to fraud in Namibia. Recent reports indicate that the country's banks lost over N65 million to fraud between January and October 2025, a sharp increase that highlights the urgency of industry-wide collaboration on security and awareness.
