City officials have approved a new tidal pool at Hout Bay Beach. The Feel Good Initiative FGI will lead the project and aim to build a safe and eco-sensitive swimming space.
The pool will serve residents of Imizamo Yethu and Hangberg.
According to the Cape Argus , FGI founder Sandy Daniel said the pool would blend with the natural shoreline. She added that it would replace an ageing revetment. We will appoint a qualified Environmental Assessment Practitioner next, she said.
With funding plans underway, the project budget stands at about R50 million. FGI is finalising a sponsorship prospectus to guide potential partners.
She stressed the need for a full Environmental Impact Assessment to ensure minimal harm to marine life.
