South Africa's Minister of Sport, Gayton McKenzie, has stated that Morocco remains the host of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations WAFCON , dismissing claims that his country has been confirmed as the new host.
In a statement issued on Monday, Mr McKenzie said that South Africa has only indicated its readiness to support the Confederation of African Football CAF if the need arises, stressing that no formal request or decision has been made.
"At this stage, no formal decision has been taken to relocate the tournament, and Morocco remains the official designated host of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations. CAF has not activated any alternative hosting process," the statement said.
