Airlink has submitted an application to the Air Services Licensing Council for traffic rights to operate between Johannesburgs OR Tambo International Airport and Dohas Hamad International Airport. The application was submitted on June 6.
According to the airline, it applied for these rights to change its unilateral codeshare with Qatar Airways to a bilateral codeshare, allowing both carriers to place their flight codes on each others services.
Additionally, the airline applied for rights to operate the following routes:
- Johannesburg JNB - Port Louis, Mauritius MRU: seven weekly frequencies
- Cape Town CPT - Lagos, Nigeria LOS: seven weekly frequencies
- Cape Town CPT - Accra, Ghana ACC: seven weekly frequencies
- Johannesburg JNB - Zanzibar, Tanzania ZNZ: seven weekly frequencies
Airlink confirmed that these applications are intended to support its future network expansion plans.
