The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness says it is still seeing an increase in measles outbreaks throughout the province. Areas such as Khayelitsha, Mfuleni, Eerste River, Somerset West, Mitchells Plain and Citrusdal among others, are affected.

The departments spokesperson, Monique Johnstone, says cases of diphtheria are also being managed in parts of the Cape Metro.

She says the declining rate in childhood vaccination uptake across the province is causing a serious risk on many children.
