Former teammate and infamous Pakistani speedster Mohammad Amir has backed skipper Mohammad Rizwan and has questioned his snub from ODI Captaincy, despite his extraordinary success in Australia and South Africa in the last season.
The Pakistan players might not look down on Shaheen Afridi's appointment as the skipper of the Pakistan ODI side, but are surely disappointed over the snub of Mohammad Rizwan. Rizwan was handed the Pakistan white-ball captaincy back in 2024.
It is strongly believed that Mike Hesson, the new Pakistan white-ball coach, was not on the same page with the selectors to keep Rizwan in for captaincy and was later backed by higher officials over his decision at Monday's selection committee meeting.
