In a tense show of dissent, the uMkhonto weSizwe MK Party staged a picket outside the Brigitte Mabandla Justice College in Pretoria on Wednesday 17 September, demanding a halt to the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry currently holding hearings on the premises.
According to Abel Tau, MK Partys Gauteng provincial spokesperson, the party lodged a case against the establishment of the commission. However, on Thursday, the Pretoria high court struck the partys interdict application off the roll.
The commission began its public proceedings on Wednesday. It is probing KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazis explosive allegations made at a media briefing in July.
