On December 15, 2025, the Denis Sassou NGuesso High School in Abala officially inaugurated its new multimedia room, marking a major milestone for digital education in the Nkni-Alima department. The ceremony was led by the Minister of Posts, Telecommunications, and the Digital Economy, Lon Juste Ibombo, alongside representatives from the Fund for Universal Access and Service of Electronic Communications FASUCE and the local mayor. This new facility is designed to provide students with a modern, connected learning environment, serving as a critical tool in the national effort to reduce the digital divide within the Congolese school system.
Managed by the Agency for the Regulation of Posts and Electronic Communications ARPCE, the project is part of a broader mission to modernize teaching conditions and promote digital inclusion. This new room in Abala brings the total number of multimedia centers deployed by FASUCE in secondary schools to 30. For the nearly 90 students in Abala, the infrastructure offers a gateway to developing essential digital skills, which local officials hope will lead to significantly improved academic results and better preparation for the modern job market.
During the event, Minister Ibombo highlighted that the school represents a vision of progress for Congolese youth, particularly as the Abala district prepares to graduate its very first wave of baccalaureate students. Yves Ickonga, Vice President of the FASUCE Committee, reiterated the goal of making the Republic of the Congo one of Africas top five leaders in universal digital service. This ambition is supported by a nationwide program that has already equipped 211 sites across 203 localities, providing essential digital access to approximately 385,000 citizens.
