Cape Town Spurs head coach Ernst Middendorp showered Samir Nurkovic with praise after their 2-0 win over TS Galaxy in the DStv Premiership on Sunday. Middendorp knows Nurkovic well, having worked with the Serbian during their time together at Kaizer Chiefs and they renewed acquaintances at the Athlone Stadium at the weekend. The 31-year-old striker only joined the Rockets in September 2023, but hes made a huge impact on the team, scoring six goals in 16 appearances across all competitions, many of them as a substitute. Nurkovic didnt start against the Urban Warriors, although he was introduced off the bench in the 34th minute as Galaxy head coach Sead Ramovic looked to get back into the contest after conceding two goals in the opening 27 minutes. Middendorp admitted the former Chiefs man caused Spurs all sorts of problems and believes he is still the best striker in the country ahead of Peter Shalulile, Khanyisa Mayo and Bradley Grobler.
