The Media, Information and Communication Technologies Sector Education and Training Authority MICT SETA has announced the appointment of Ms Emma Mphahlele as Chairperson of the MICT SETA Board, with effect from 23 December 2025 to 31 March 2030. The appointment marks a significant leadership milestone for the organisation as it advances its mandate of skills development within South Africa's ICT sector.
Ms Mphahlele brings over 16 years of leadership experience spanning ICT, STEM education, the public sector, and social impact initiatives. She is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Kids Innovate Africa and African Youth Ignited 4IR, organisations that have played a key role in promoting robotics, coding, and digital skills programmes aimed at preparing young people for participation in the digital economy.
In addition to her executive leadership, Ms Mphahlele has a strong governance background. Her experience includes serving as Advisory Chairperson to the Cape Peninsula University of Technology CPUT Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and as a National Accreditation Committee Member under the NRF-SAASTA framework, contributing to national standards in science, technology, and innovation.
