A teachers assistant at Silverstream Primary School in Manenberg has resigned following multiple allegations of physically assaulting learners by pinching their private parts as a form of discipline.
A report in the Daily Voice details how parents of Grade 5 learners came forward with what is described as very concerning allegations against the assistant, who was employed through the Basic Education Employment Initiative BEEI.
The Western Cape Education Department WCED confirmed the assistants resignation and that counseling support is being provided to affected children.
