Mandla Mashimbyi has been appointed as the new head coach of the South African Womens Cricket Team. The former Titans coach and former assistant coach of the South African men's team replaces Hilton Moreeng, who stepped down after a long tenure. Mashimbyi's appointment follows the interim leadership of Dillon du Preez, who guided the Proteas women to the final of the T20 World Cup.
A former professional cricketer who played for teams such as the Titans, Knights, and Griquas, Mashimbyi retired in 2010 due to knee injuries. His coaching career, particularly with the Titans, has spanned over 11 years, and he expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to take on the role with the Proteas women. Mashimbyi is committed to driving the team's continued success on the international stage, aiming to enhance their standing as a dominant force in world cricket.
Enoch Nkwe, CSAs Director of National Teams and High Performance, expressed CSA's pride in appointing Mashimbyi, confident that his expertise and leadership will help the team grow and succeed in the future.
