Fort HareStudents at the University of Fort Hare have staged a week-long protest, calling for the immediate resignation of Vice Chancellor Professor Sakhela Buhlungu. The demonstrations come in response to the university council's decision to extend Buhlungu's contract by 12 months.
The students accuse the Vice Chancellor of failing to address their needs during his tenure. However, University Spokesperson JP Roodt says Professor Buhlungu has no intention of stepping down.
