A Gauteng man is at the centre of a high-profile intimidation case after allegedly issuing chilling threats against President Cyril Ramaphosa, Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis, and a Cape Town-based company CEO.

The 28-year-old suspect was apprehended by the Hawks' elite Crimes Against the State CATS unit in Germiston on Friday, as first reported by Times Live . According to Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Thandi Mbambo, the arrest stems from a voice message allegedly sent by the man on Monday, 12 May, containing direct threats aimed at South Africa's head of state.

But the president wasn't the only target.

The same suspect allegedly sent a series of disturbing messages to the CEO, warning of harm to her, her loved ones, and to Mayor Hill-Lewis. The motive behind the threats remains under investigation.

Law enforcement officials acted swiftly following the complaint, launching a rapid investigation that led to the suspects arrest just days later.
