Sundowns are among four African teams participating in the worlds premier club competition alongside Al Ahly , Wydad Casablanca and Esperance.
The South African champions won their first game 1-0 against Ulsan. However, they succumbed to a 4-3 defeat to Borussia Dortmund despite a spirited and inspiring showing.
Masandawana are the only South African team to have ever featured in the Club World Cup, and a win against Fluminense would secure their place in the last 16 for the first time.
This will be a tall order against the much-fancied Fluminense, who top Group F standings with four points on a goal difference of two. Dortmund are second with four points as well, but with a goal difference of one.
Sundowns are third with three points while Ulsan are last with zero points after two losses. Ulsan face Dortmund at the same time in a match in which the latter are heavy favourites.
This means that Sundowns must prevail in their match to advance beyond the group stages.
