Economic Freedom Fighters EFF leader Julius Malema has slammed the Eastern Cape government over what he describes as its slow response to assisting flood victims in Mthatha .
Malema visited the flood-stricken area to see firsthandthe effects of the floods on the affected communities.
He also visited the funeral service of one of the flood victims, 14-year-old Siyavuya Mkatshane, at Mbholompo village.
Malema said they will monitor how the funds meant for the victims are used.
He has also promised to assist the residents with their basic needs.
