South African, Charlton Malajika, is keen to emulate his older brother, Ricardo, a two-weight International Boxing Organisation champion. The younger Malajika will go toe-to-toe with Filipino fighter, RV Deniega, for the IBO World Youth Bantamweight title.
The fight will form part of the tournament titled Titans of Africa at Emperors Palace in Kempton Park on Saturday evening 5 July.
Malajika will step into the spotlight on Saturday when he faces the biggest test of his career, a shot at the IBO World Youth Bantamweight Title. He has spent years in the shadow of his older brother, Ricardo, a two-weight IBO champion, but he is eager to make a name for himself now. He has an impressive record of eight fights, seven wins with three knockouts and just one loss.
"Well to be honest with you, I am looking forward to making family history, my brother Ricardo Malajika is a two-weight division world champion, and I want to join him, we all take different paths but I believe my journey starts now," says Malajika.
Zimbabwes electrifying minimum-weight boxer, Beaven Sibanda, returns to the ring with gold in sight, taking on the tough and tested Richard Garde of the Philippines for the IBF World Youth Bantamweight title. Sibanda has a record of nine fights, with eight wins and one defeat. A win against Garde could be the launch pad to a world title for the Zimbabwean, but he knows it wont be an easy fight.
