Civil rights organisation, NotInMyNam e International, has called on government to declare gender-based violence and femicide GBVF a national emergency.
The renewed calls follow the shooting of two women, Tshiamo and Baleseng Moramaga, in Pretoria over the weekend.
The women, aged 22 and 21, were found dead on the side of the road with gunshot wounds to the head in Mamelodi East, Extension 17.
