Softfootball can confirm that Alisson Becker was unavailable for Liverpool's preseason fixture against Yokohama F. Marinos after returning to Brazil due to a personal matter.
The goalkeeper was initially part of the squad on tour in Asia but departed the group ahead of Wednesday's match in Japan.
Head coach Arne Slot addressed the situation after, offering brief context while underlining the club's support for the Brazilian.
Liverpool, who came from a goal down, defeated Yokohama 3-1 to record their first win in the preseason tournament in Japan. Although the likes of new signing Ekitke featured in the game, the absence of Allison was felt.
As reported on the club website , Slot said:
Alisson's absence comes at a time when Liverpool are intensifying preparations ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, with fitness rhythm and tactical adjustments being key themes of Slot's first pre-season in charge.
The 31-year-old had been expected to feature in the match as part of the rotation strategy being applied across the squad.
Slot added:
Liverpool has not disclosed further details surrounding Alisson's situation and is expected to give the goalkeeper as much time as required before rejoining the team.
In the absence of the No. 1, the club's goalkeeping group, including Caoimhin Kelleher and Vitezslav Jaro, Giorgi Mamardashvili, and Freddie Woodman, has been saddled with the responsibilities across the remaining fixtures on tour.
