Two teenagers were rescued from potentially dangerous waters by quick-thinking bystanders, including local resident Dylan Rattray in a dramatic turn of events at Kommetjie Beach on Friday, 13 March.
The 24-year-old, who was working at his coffee stand at the beach, was alerted to the situation by the frantic gestures of onlookers indicating the distress of two young males caught in rip currents, reports Cape town Etc .
The alarm was raised after an eyewitness contacted the National Sea Rescue Institute NSRI Emergency Operations Centre EOC, prompting an immediate response from the NSRI Kommetjie and Hout Bay duty crews and the City of Cape Town's water rescue network.
