Sevilla's difficult spell deepened as they slipped to a late 1-0 defeat against Celta Vigo, extending their run without a goal to four matches in all competitions, Softfootball reports.
The hosts started cautiously, with Sevilla captain Nemanja Gudelj making an early, crucial interception to deny Iago Aspas a through ball that would have released Ilaix Moriba. Despite that intervention, it was Celta who recorded the first effort on target, Bryan Zaragoza forcing Odysseas Vlachodimos into a sharp save after a swift counter-attack involving Aspas.
Sevilla showed flashes of intent going forward but lacked precision in the final third. They felt hard done by when appeals for a penalty, following Carl Starfelt's challenge on Kike Salas, were waved away. At the other end, Javi Rodriguez's low effort posed little trouble for Vlachodimos, as Celta - who began the night three points behind sixth-placed Real Betis - arguably created the clearer openings before the break.
