largest mammal migration in the world occurs in zambia

Between October and December each year, about 10 million straw-coloured fruitbats descend into a tiny patch of evergreen swamp forest inside Kasanka National Park, northern Zambia.

The African straw-coloured fruit bat, the second-largest fruit bat on the continent, can have a wingspan of up to a metre, and the adults weigh up to 350g.

The annual Kasanka bat migration is also the planets largest mammal migration, according to Africa Geographic .

This natural phenomenon is unique only to Kasanka and lends itself to some truly astonishing birdlife sightings, Zambia Tourism said in a post on Facebook.
