Police Minister Senzo Mchunu says he understands the frustration around the slow pace of investigations and convictions of those involved in State Capture cases.
Mchunu and Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshaveni answered oral questions on safety and security in the National Council of Provinces NCOP.
Mchunu says while it is not an attempt to justify the long time the investigations take, the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations, is battling with lack of resources and manpower.
"We note the concern of delays. Had it been for us, we would have had all these cases finalized just like before because ultimately, all of us are seeking justice and fairness arising from those matters of State Capture," he says.
Earlier this month, former evidence leader in the State Capture Commission Advocate Paul Pretorius said it was concerning that the National Prosecuting Authority NPA was not capacitated to effectively prosecute those implicated in State Capture corruption.
