The Kruger National Park KNP has formally expressed its support and willingness to collaborate on the vital work being undertaken by the Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business and Tourism KLCBT in a crucial safety project at risk of being halted due to lack of funding.

Tourism Update reported on July 7 that the Ehlanzeni Integrated Security Plan, implemented in 2022, has eliminated reported incidents of crime along the Numbi Road a key access route to the popular Numbi Gate entrance to the park.

In a letter to KLCBT CEO Linda Grimbeek on July 8, KNP Managing Executive Oscar Mthimkhulu said the park stands firmly aligned with the safety objectives of the KLCBT.

As one of South Africas premier conservation and tourism destinations, we recognise that the preservation of our natural heritage is inextricably linked to the safety and confidence of those who visit and work within our ecosystem, he said.

Mthimkhulu committed to several ongoing measures to enhance safety including participation in forums and task teams, support of public awareness and advocacy campaigns, and sharing of relevant safety intelligence and operational updates.
