Kenya is planning to increase taxes on local and international air tickets, which have remained unchanged for 13 years.
The National Assemblys majority leader, Kimani Ichungwah has submitted a Bill which, if passed, will increase the levies on international air tickets by 25 and 20 for domestic air tickets. So far, the Bill has cleared its second reading in the National Assembly.
Taxes for international tickets will rise from around US40 to US50, and local tickets from KES500 US3.8 to KES600 US4.6.
