Kenyas startup ecosystem has achieved a major milestone with the successful hosting of its first-ever Startup World Cup regional competition. The event, which took place at the Kenya Startup Festival and was organized by the Kenya National Innovation Agency KeNIA, drew more than 160 applications from innovative startups across the country.

Following a thorough selection process, ten exceptional startups were selected to present their solutions on the festival stage.

The selected finalists represent a wide array of industries, highlighting Kenyas dynamic entrepreneurial scene:

  • BuuPass: A platform co-founded by Sonia Kabra and Wyclife Omondi, enabling bus, train, and flight bookings.
  • Sio Valley Technologies: Led by Trevor Siu, focusing on technological advancements.
  • Ndovu: A fintech startup founded by Radhika Bhachu, designed to streamline investment processes.
  • VunaPay: An agri-fintech solution by Gatwiri Njogu-Mokaya, delivering financial services to farmers.
  • Neural Labs Africa: Founded by Tom Kinyanjui Njoroge, specializing in artificial intelligence technologies.
  • Jahazii: A digital platform developed by Vaidehi Tembhekar, enhancing the efficiency of maritime logistics.
  • Leafy Life: Led by Johnson Mboya, concentrating on sustainable energy solutions.
  • Payd HQ: A fintech company founded by Benaiah Wepundi, offering payroll management solutions.
  • Melanin Kapital: Co-founded by Melanie Keita, providing financing for African SMEs.
  • Zerobionic: Founded by Norah Kimathi, dedicated to the development of assistive technologies.

The Startup World Cup, hosted by Pegasus Tech Ventures, stands as a prestigious global competition that unites more than 100 regional events across over 60 countries. The Grand Finale in San Francisco marks the culmination of these events, offering startups a unique opportunity for international exposure and the chance to secure substantial investments.
