The City of Johannesburg will embark on roadshows starting Monday, 26th May, to promote the Spaza shop support fund.
The R500 million fund launched in Soweto last month aims to support township and rural entrepreneurs with financial and non-financial support.
Eligible spaza shop owners can receive up to R300 000 through a combination of grants and interest-free loans. Spaza shop owners can use the money to purchase stock or upgrade the business infrastructure.
City of Johannesburgs Virgil James says roadshows will be held in all seven regions of the city until July.
We are urging all spaza shop owners to attend and learn how they can access funding support as well as, very importantly, encourage spaza shop owners to collaborate with the city regarding compliance on food safety, certificate of suitability, verification of information and other requirements so that compliant owners can be issued with temporary permits in due course of the roadshows.
